Mom-mentum's Women's Leadership Conference

Mom-mentum recognizes the need for programs that benefit both employers and employees. In 1996, the NAMC [Mom-mentum] held our first Work/Life Conference as a great way for employers and employees alike to explore issues in the work/life integration arena. Nationally recognized experts share their insights into how workplace flexibility and family-friendly policies make good business sense.


Women are poised to become a majority in the workforce for the first time in US history. This year, we saw a 25 percent jump from the previous year in the number of women Fortune 500 CEOs.  In the last decade, women-owned businesses nearly doubled in number and now account for 40 percent of all US businesses.

In response to this projection, Mom-mentum is making a concerted effort to expand and assist more women working outside the home.  This conference is the first in many steps towards a strong professional development service in which we hope to aid thousands of women in the workforce and those looking to return to the workforce.

This conference is the launching pad for all things to come.

We are often asked how we can help women succeed in today's world with so many demands, on both their personal and professional lives.  These requests inspired us to crerate a strong Professional Development service for all women in all phases of their careers.  This service is unique to all, as it is a benefit of Mom-mentum membership and a built-in support system to help you achieve extraordinary.

Mom-mentum exists because people and companies like yours recognize the talents and skills women bring to industry. This is an ever-growing theme in today's corporate, community and political landscape.

Mom-mentum Hosts the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Business Effectiveness and Flexibility

The NAMC [Mom-mentum] is proud have served as the host organization for the Long Island region’s participation in the Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Business Effectiveness and Flexibility since 2009. As host, Mom-mentum has committed to spreading the word about the award, encouraging Long Island employers to apply and consulting with a broad range of business and community leaders to help promote this award for the benefit of the Long Island business community and this region. Judy Martin Memorial Scholarship

Judy MartinMom-mentum is offering its first annual scholarship honoring Judy Martin, journalist and WorkLife Nation founder, who strove to promote a work-life balance, teaching professionals how to manage their stress in order to achieve success and serenity in their careers and in their lives. Ms. Martin was a consistent supporter, advocate and presenter at the annual NAMC Work/Life Conference for many years. She has left with us a legacy of truth, wisdom and appreciation for the present.

This scholarship fund has been established in her honor to remember the work that she did and to help support women who will continue on this path.

One award in the amount of $500 will be granted to a Long Island woman who seeks to continue Judy Martin’s mission of ensuring professional well-being and improving the workplace culture for maximum productivity, innovation, and creation. Apply now. Women's Return to Work Program

Our Return to Work program will be a unique service offered to Mom-mentum members. It will be designed to help support talented individuals who, after an extended absence, are seeking to re-enter the workforce.

Through established relationships with executive recruiting firms, career counselors and corporations invested in developing their female talent pool, we look to assist members in the process of returning to the workforce. Through these relationships, we hope to offer assistance and programming in:

Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Business Effectiveness and Flexibility

The Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Business Effectiveness and Flexibility is part of When Work Works, a national project on workplace effectiveness and workplace flexibility from Families and Work Institute. Sloan Award APPLICANTS are self-nominated employers that complete the employer survey. The employer questionnaire is available on-line.
